With nearly a decade serving both Fortune 500 companies and small businesses alike, DOOR3 is a leading Drupal design and development firm headquartered in New York City with an office in London, UK. Our portfolio includes dozens of Drupal projects including social networking and community sites, e-commerce sites, mobile sites, intranets, complex CMS migration projects, and both B2C and B2B marketing sites.
Why Drupal Was Chosen
Drupal was chosen as the CMS platform on which to build this community for a few reasons. First, it allows for fast development of complex functionality and strong support for multi-user blogging. Drupal’s flexible structure also allows for continuous enhancements in response to community feedback. This is essential to the success of a social site.
Describe the Project (Goals, Requirements, and Outcome)

What is unique about this project and each of the social communities that DOOR3 has helped develop with IDG is that the site drives traffic and engagement in a community-based knowledge-sharing network and brings thousands of technology and business leaders in contact and conversation. Technically speaking, it provides and supports a high volume of user generated content with a mix of professionally moderated and community curation.  It is a focused interest site that provides high value information and discussion to the community as well as professional networking opportunities.  The other unique thing, as previously noted, is the commitment to continuous development and improvements that allow for the community to shape the site based on its input and use. It is a user-driven success.

DOOR3 has worked with IDG on a number of social communities built with Drupal, and we have received great user feedback that, when implemented, then supports the user needs of thousands of community users. And, Drupal's flexibility allowed us to add a device optimized version of the site that looks good on all mobile devices with content targeted per device based on device capability.
