Brief Overview

The website of Corepoint Health was re-engineered to meet the new needs of the company while retaining user permissions and information architecture. A restructured training events section, streamlined administrative user interface, integration with Wistia, improved search function using Apache Solr, and installation of Ubercart all worked to improve the site’s return on investment by increasing revenue and decreasing operating costs. Furthermore, the customer portal was designed, migrated, and integrated to Drupal Commons, giving the site a feature-rich social community.

Key Modules, Theme, and Distribution Used
Corepoint Health was built on Drupal 7, with Apache Solr, Lexicon, UberCart, and Wistia API.
Why these Modules, Theme, and Distribution were Chosen

Drupal 7 was chosen for it’s ease of use for the client and compatibility with required modules.  For the first time, Corepoint Health was able to maintain the site themselves, as our Drupal-based solution empowered them to add, remove, and arrange content on their site, greatly reducing site maintenance overhead.

The following modules were selected:

* Uber Cart - In addition to Uber Cart’s ease of use and flexibility, switching from a custom-built and no longer maintained eCommerce system to Ubercart allowed the company to save up to $8,000 per year in credit card processing fees, as they integrated their payment processing with their new merchant payment provider.

* Apache Solr Search - Apache Solr Search allowed for the visitor to search among several different datasets and use one search form to search multiple different indices, (such as title, type, author, date, and keyword).

* Lexicon - Lexicon was used to create a a searchable glossary which produced internal links and keywords which improved SEO results.

* Wistia API - Integrating video publishing with Wistia simplified the video uploading and managing process, eliminating many video publishing errors and caching problems.

Astonish Deisgn
Astonish Design offers Drupal design, development, and integration, solving difficult web development problems and attacking problems from inception through rollout to maintenance and support. We’re active members of the large community of Drupal developers who share information, best practices and support, and we were among the the first to integrate select third-party applications into a Drupal environment. And we’ve helped pioneer advances that minimize reliance on MySQL databases, making backend data handling faster and less resource dependent.
Why Drupal Was Chosen
Drupal was chosen to serve as the CMS for this site because Drupal 7 is a proven, supported, adaptable, and scalable resource.
Describe the Project (Goals, Requirements, and Outcome)

Goals:

Corepoint Health, responsible for the software that integrates a vast body of different healthcare patient information systems, was rapidly outgrowing it’s outdated website with current industry-standard technology, such as payment processing systems, social portal functions, and mobile support.  Plus, their existing Drupal installation was based on the user- and developer-unfriendly Drupal 6, and was due for a major overhaul.  But Corepoint Health needed more than just a simple upgrade to the latest Drupal version.  They envisioned new emphasis on informing customers about upcoming training events, managing and publishing videos, and a better organized, easier to use search function for the site.

Requirements:

Corepoint Health required:

* Migration from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7

* Retention of the existing design, user permissions, and information archetecture.

* Restructuring the training events section so that events would be listed chronologically by default

* Incorporporation of the video service with the Wistia API

* Development of a landing page solution that allowed the content manager to modify landing pages without development time.

* Integration of Apache Solr in order to search across multiple content types

* Institute an Uber Cart payment processing system.

* Design, migration, and integration to Drupal Commons for the customer portal.

OUTCOME:

Our work on the Corepoint Health website improved the user experience for both administrators and visitors.

* For the first time, Corepoint Health was able to maintain the site themselves, as our Drupal-based solution empowered them to add, remove, and arrange content on their site, greatly reducing site maintenance overhead.

* Switching from a custom-built and no longer maintained eCommerce system to Ubercart allowed the company to save up to $8,000 per year in credit card processing fees, as they integrated their payment processing with their new merchant payment provider.

* Our search system through Apache SolR also included a searchable glossary through Lexicon - this glossary produced internal links and keywords which improved SEO results.

* Integrating video publishing with Wistia simplified the video uploading and managing process, eliminating many video publishing errors and caching problems.

* The Integration Generation blog went from a seldom-used feature of the site to an active source of industry and product information, with improved blog readability, topic navigation, and administrative ease of use.

* Even though the scope of changes was significant, our solution maintained the same level of search engine penetration and preserved the existing multi-author publishing workflow.
