Describe the Project (Goals, Requirements, and Outcome)

Manchester Central is the leading conference, events and exhibition venue in the North of England. Its new web platform, powered by CTI Drupal, is the culmination of many months of meticulous planning, expert UX appraisals and complex development.

With ambitions to provide a best-in-class online experience in its industry, Manchester Central commissioned renowned usability and conversion optimisation specialists PRWD to undertake extensive user testing and competitor benchmarking to develop the website brief.

The brief included a buyer persona guide and a 269 page customer research and re-design blueprint report covering a wealth of invaluable business insights, design and user journey recommendations and functional and technical requirements.

CTI was appointed as technical partner combining technical, design and marketing expertise to compose a full technical specification, wireframes, designs, style tile, site architecture and subsequent delivery.

Drupal’s flexibility in both front-end and information architecture enabled our team to pay meticulous attention to user journeys ensuring that the three key audience groups - Organisers, Exhibitors, Visitors - were guided to content pertinent to them.

The project required technical competency across a wide range of areas. Our front end team delivered engaging video and image galleries together with emersive HTM5 Canvas venue flythroughs which integrated into Drupal via custom modules.

The striking accommodation and events directories are perfect examples how with attention to detail Drupal can be used to produce world-class user experiences.

We believe we now have one of the best websites in the conference and events industry. We are committed to delivering a five-star service in all that we do and believe that this ethos should transcend all our offline and online activities. Within one month of the site being live - and as a result of the new mechanisms featured across the site making it easier for users to engage - we saw a substantial uplift in the volume of new quality enquiries.

We’re incredibly proud of our new website and we’re determined to lead the way with new innovations and developments as we continue to evolve our online presence.
